Winter in Lake Tahoe is pure magic, and Megan and Connor’s engagement session was the perfect example of that. Their winter love on Tahoe’s West Shore came to life against snow-capped peaks and crystal-clear waters, making for a breathtaking adventure. This wasn’t just a photo session—it was a journey filled with laughter, connection, and the kind of stunning scenery that makes Tahoe unforgettable.

Getting to these iconic views on Tahoe’s West Shore in the winter? Not exactly a walk in the park. It was all uphill, and with fresh snow, let’s just say there was some slipping, sliding, and sinking involved. But Megan and Connor? Total troopers. They strapped on their clamp-ons and yak tracks and embraced the adventure without hesitation. And honestly, those little challenges just made the experience (and the photos) even better.

We timed the session for the afternoon, which was perfect. The sun was still high enough to illuminate the deep blues and greens of the lake—colors that can get totally blown out at sunset, especially on Tahoe’s West Shore. The result? A backdrop that was so rich, vibrant, and downright dreamy.

But engagement sessions aren’t just about getting pretty photos (though, trust me, they got plenty of those). It’s also about getting comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. Megan and Connor got to see how I work, and more importantly, they got to just be together—laughing, snuggling, and soaking in this season of life. By the time their wedding day rolls around, they’ll already know what to expect, making the whole experience even more seamless and fun.

And let’s be real—engagement photos are also just a really great excuse for a little adventure. Megan and Connor made a full weekend out of it, turning their session into a pre-Valentine’s getaway. That’s something I always encourage my couples to do—turn it into a date day, a mini trip, or just a reason to celebrate. Because this season of being engaged? It’s short, and it’s special.

As we wrapped up the session and made our way down the trail (carefully, of course—no one wants to eat it on the way down!), I couldn’t help but feel so excited for their wedding later this year. If their engagement session was any indication, their day is going to be incredible. And I can’t wait to capture it all.
