I recently had the most amazing Summer Engagement Session in North Lake Tahoe with Hannah and Nick, and let me tell you, it was like stepping into a summertime dream.
On the way home, I couldn’t help feeling all of the feels!
The sun was slowly setting, casting that magical blue hour glow over everything. I rolled down the windows and let the cool 60-degree air flow in. Yes, it was a bit chilly, but for Tahoe, it’s still warm, and it just added to the summer vibes.
I don’t know what it was about this shoot in particular, but it just felt all too right to take a minute to bask in the feeling of summer.
Recap of Hannah + Nick’s Summer Engagement Session in North Lake Tahoe
Before meeting Hannah and Nick, I was jamming to “Satellite” by Harry Styles, daydreaming about the smell of campfire mixed with fresh rain-washed pine and crisp alpine air.
Starting already so happy meant that this session was going to be full of good vibes. Honestly, I was ready to keep those good vibes going!
Luckily, as you’ll see, they were too!
Hannah and Nick’s session came through a referral from a past wedding that I was able to shoot. And, to add to the coincidences, Hannah and Nick had recently visited one of my other couples in San Diego.
Reno-Tahoe, I tell you, it’s a small town all around.
I am here for it!
Meet the Couple
Hannah and Nick have been together for eight years and recently got engaged on a hike in Mendocino, just before a trip to Hawaii.
The proposal was everything they hoped for, and Hannah’s beautiful emerald cut ring with sweet little diamonds perfectly complements their love story.
When I saw it in person?! I had major heart eyes!
Heading to a Secret Spot
We headed to one of my favorite spots on the lake.
It is a hidden gem that feels like a locals-only haven. The best part? Dogs are allowed, which meant that they were able to bring along their adorable doodle named Kenny.
If you know anything about Doodles, you know that they have this human-like vibe, and it was no different with Kenny. He was just the sweetest companion during the shoot.
As we explored the forest together, Hannah and Nick shared stories, laughter, and beers.
It sets my soul on fire to hear them say how much fun they were having and that the shoot was much less awkward than they had anticipated. As a couple’s photographer, that’s exactly what I strive for – genuine and relaxed moments.
Outfit Change at the Water’s Edge
Switching to their second outfit, we ventured to the water’s edge and soaked up the breathtaking views.
The weather had been unpredictable with thunderstorms, but this evening was a perfect lake day with a gentle breeze and a stunning pink and purple sunset.
Seriously, these two are so adorable together, and I’m crossing my fingers that they book me for their wedding. It’s couples like them that make me feel incredibly blessed to be a part of their journey.
I’ve rambled on long enough, but I can’t help it when I’m overflowing with all of the feels!
This session was the epitome of summer, and my heart is full.
I hope you can feel the warmth and happiness too!
