I am sooo excited to share my recent adventure photographing Paige and Kolby’s western engagement session full of love in Virginia City, Nevada.
It was a day filled with old-time charm, a touch of the Wild West, and a lot of ice cream!
Discovering Virginia City
First things first, how did I end up in Virginia City for this engagement session?
Well, it all started when Paige and Kolby found me through Emily, a talented wedding planner you can check out HERE. Emily connected us, and I’m so grateful for that because it led to this perfect adventure.
Virginia City Vibes with Paige + Coby
Unlike my previous engagement sessions in Virginia City, this one had a different twist.
Paige wanted to embrace the urban vibes of the town itself. We dove right into the heart of the city, with its historic buildings, charming boardwalks, and even an old saloon.
It was like stepping back in time to the late 1800s, and it was so much fun!
Challenges and Sweet Treats
Now, shooting in a busy tourist town like Virginia City can have its challenges.
We had to navigate through a bit of foot traffic and curious tourists, but that didn’t stop us. Instead, we used the surroundings to our advantage, capturing unique moments in front of old brick buildings, green structures, and even a classic saloon door that added an authentic touch to the photos.
We wandered along the wooden boardwalks that lined the streets, capturing the vibes of this old mining town. And speaking of the Old West, we even spotted some wild horses during our session, adding an unexpected and memorable touch to our day.
We didn’t just stick to the streets; we also made a pit stop at a local ice creamery.
Enjoying ice cream cones together, capturing moments of ice cream playfulness, and exploring the town’s unique structures made for some truly special shots.
I have to admit; that I let my creative juices flow a bit more than usual during this session. The town’s ambiance encouraged me to experiment with different poses and directions. Not to toot my own horn, but I was blown away by the results.
Building Memories
One of the things I absolutely love about including engagement sessions in my wedding packages is the opportunity to get to know the couples before their big day.
Meeting Paige and Kolby in person, not just through a screen, allowed us to build a connection and made the anticipation for their wedding even more exciting.
In the end, this engagement session in Virginia City was a breath of fresh air (literally, with the beautiful weather we had!). It was a change of pace from my usual settings, and I truly enjoyed every moment of it. The charming town, the lovely couple, and the unexpected surprises along the way made it an unforgettable experience.
I can’t wait for Paige and Kolby’s wedding in September at their family’s private estate in Wells, Nevada. It’s going to be a day filled with love, laughter, and more beautiful memories.
