So, you’re considering a Lake Tahoe Elopement? UM DO IT!
As a local, I can assure you that every spot here is *chef’s kiss*, making your elopement nothing short of a dream. But, before you dive into the details, there’s one important factor you need to consider—the weather.
I know, I’ve emphasized this in my other elopement blogs, but in the unpredictable realm of Reno/Tahoe weather, it deserves a spotlight of its own.

Understanding the Weather for Your Lake Tahoe Elopement
Reno/Tahoe is notorious for its temperamental weather, offering all four seasons in a day and a bonus season – fire season.
With forests all around, we occasionally find ourselves swimming in smoke.
And the most recent winter of 2022-2023? We are talking record-breaking, showcasing the spectrum of weather patterns we experience.
Monthly Breakdown:
JANUARY to FEBRUARY
Cold and snowy, but occasionally blessed with stunning blue-bird days.

MARCH
It is truly a wild card month. We could experience anywhere from twelve feet of snow to glimpses of 60* days.
APRIL
We will see glimpses of warmer weather mixed with cold rain showers. Rain at 7000+ ft is no joke!
MAY
Shoulder season, offering warmer weather before the summer rush. Be prepared for rain surprises.
JUNE TO AUGUST
Warmest weather, bustling with activity. Long days create dreamy golden hours for your celebration. I mean just look at that August glow!!↓↓↓

JULY TO EARLY OCTOBER
Fire season. While it can get smoky, it varies each year. Since late summer months are our hottest, fire risk is at its peak; if you want to super avoid those smokey vibes I’d maybe opt for NOT picking an August or September wedding date. However you can totally luck out! The photo above was August 5th and we had the most stuningggg summer day at the lake.
SEPTEMBER TO LATE OCTOBER
Fall time, with warm days, cool nights, and breathtaking colors. September & October are gaining popularity for weddings, so secure your date early. No for real — Sept and October are the new May & June for weddings.

NOVEMBER TO DECEMBER
A mixed bag. Temperatures drop, and by mid-December, snow starts to fall. Flurries may occur in November, but they typically don’t stick.
Whether you envision snow-capped mountains or a golden summer glow as your backdrop, Lake Tahoe has it all. So, when planning your Lake Tahoe elopement, consider the weather and the atmosphere you desire.
