Sydney and Ian met at a dollar beer night in college and now they are having their dream fall wedding at Lakeside Beach & Basecamp Tahoe’s beer garden!

The Beginning of a Their Wedding at Lakeside Beach x Basecamp Tahoe
On my drive up to Basecamp, I was already giddy to be photographing here again. Last time I was at this venue it was for a smokey little micro wedding (Check it out HERE.) This time? October, warm, clear blue skies, a completely different vibe. I’ll take it.
Sydney and Ian did a first look and they are just the sweetest humans!! Sydney’s dress fit her so beautifully. It was like a glove, STUNNING.
After their first look, we had time to knock out their wedding party photos which is reason 7849 why I love when couples do first looks!
Saying yes to forever at Lakeside Beach
Surrounded by their people (including their pup, who got to be part of the whole thing) with a calm, clear lake behind them, Syd and Ian said yes to forever at The Arch at Lakeside Beach. The weather was flawless. We genuinely could not have ordered a better ceremony day if we tried.
And then, one of my favorite moments of the entire day. As they were walking back down the aisle, Sydney realized she forgot her flowers. This happens ALL the time, and it was also so completely Syd. So I hyped everyone right back up: “Alright folks, real quick, we’re running that processional back because our sweet bride wants her flowers!” We ran it again, bigger and better, everyone cheering louder the second time. It was the best. That kind of moment is exactly what I’m there for. When something goes a little sideways, we don’t panic, we make it even more fun.
Then came the reception at Basecamp, and Sydney and Ian went delightfully off-script with the food. Instead of the usual chicken-or-steak situation, they threw a full backyard BBQ: pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, mac and cheese, all of it. YUM. I love when couples build their day around what they actually love instead of what a wedding is “supposed” to look like. (And yes, the camera ate first.)
When it came to cutting the cake, we had to borrow a knife from the kitchen — so with a big chef’s knife (hilarious in photos btw!!) they cut their cake & they had a full-face CAKE SMASH! Sooo epic & fun — just like them!
When the day runs long, we adjust
Since we were running a bit behind this day, Sydney and Ian pulled me aside to add some more time. HECK YES! On the day of the wedding, if we need to make a last-minute call, we can totally do that. I appreciate that they took advantage of that because I was able to photograph all the epic moments of the reception which was important to them.
Forever obsessed with these two & I cannot wait to keep capturing their life’s milestones!
